A number of primary school governors were becoming anxious about carrying out their governing body responsibilities and contacted the Chairs Advice Line for support. We provided initial statutory and procedural advice. As part of the way forward to help build stronger governance, we also developed a framework for managing the statutory and regulatory procedures of the governing body, we supported a skills audit and self-evaluation and we developed atailored training package. The governing body felt supported and is now functioning much more effectively, with plans in place for continued development.
