Apprentice Outdoor Education Tutor

Ghyll Head Outdoor Education Centre

We are seeking to appoint a positive individual who has the aptitude and ability to undertake an apprentice programme of on and off the job training and gain experience as Outdoor Education Tutor.

They will learn and develop the necessary skills and experience to assist in the delivery of safe, high quality outdoor education and training courses for children, young people and adults, and will work towards an NVQ Level 2 in Activity Leadership and appropriate technical certificates including National Governing Body awards.

  • Duration of post : 1 year Fixed Term
  • Salary: National Minimum Wage for Apprentices £122.50 per week
  • Hours of work: 35 hours per week over 5 days

Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

A commitment to developing a career working with young people in the outdoors

An active participant in outdoor adventure activities, with sufficient competence in at least two of the following activities to be able to progress towards NGB leadership qualifications and an NVQ Level 2 in Activity Leadership within one year: hill walking; rock climbing; sailing; kayaking or canoeing.

Sensitivity towards environmental issues.

Personal strengths including: a positive outlook; flexibility; willingness to work independently; being helpful and cooperative with others; easily accepting other people; a commitment to self development.

In order to meet the funding requirements for this post you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must reside at an English address
  • You must not have previously obtained a L4 qualification (e.g. Degree or HND)
