Supporting children through play training

This training explores the role of play in child development and the role that adults (teacher/parents/carers) have in play. We will look at the different types of play that children express as well as therapeutic play and how we can support parents in developing their therapeutic play skills to support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.

What is this training?

This training explores the role of play in child development and the role that adults (teacher/parents/carers) have in play. We will look at the different types of play that children express as well as therapeutic play and how we can support parents in developing their therapeutic play skills to support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development. Further to this, we will discuss possible next steps for your setting in continuing or increasing parent engagement.

Follow up sessions for schools, during summer 2 term, from our Assistant EPs will be supporting parent engagement. Schools can choose from:

  •  AsEPs surveying parents about barriers to engagement with school
  •  AsEPs supporting school to plan a parent workshop/stay and play/coffee morning etc.
  •  AsEPs supporting the delivery of a parent workshop/stay and play/coffee morning etc.
