COURSE CONTENT

There is a relentless focus on improving teaching and learning in schools with the expectation that school leaders provide relevant professional development for staff.  This can only be achieved by having a robust performance management system that encourages, challenges and supports improvement.

This briefing aims to: 

  • Identify the roles, responsibilities and expectations of staff, school leaders, governors and Ofsted
  • Consider the link between performance and pay progression
  • Review and encourage appropriate use of objectives
  • Consider professional development possibilities
  • Discuss the possible outcomes of the performance review cycle including pay appeals
  • Look at when it may be appropriate to consider transition to the capability process to manage under-performance
