Course Content

Misunderstandings about the application of health and safety law may discourage schools and teachers organising trips. Frustration with excessive paperwork, fears of prosecution and the belief that teachers can be sued are all issues that are addressed.

This training gives practical and structured approaches for all activities including travelling abroad, sporting events and trips to unusual places or just your local farm!

The course will:

  • Enable delegates to understand their legal and moral responsibilities and their role in relation to managing risk.
  • Assist delegates to recognise any significant risks within the education sector when organising school trips and enable them to put in practical manageable controls.
  • Ensure delegates are able to carry out school trip risk assessments using a four-stage approach.
  • Strike the right balance between protecting pupils from risk and allowing them to learn and grow in confidence from school trips.
