The third One Education Literacy Conference is going to be something special. Opening #LitConf18 will be Manchester’s own poet, Tony Walsh (aka Longfella), sharing his inspirational poems and discussing the work he does in schools.
This session will offer a wide range of activities and ideas to transform the teaching of writing in the classroom, including: - using a text-based approach - embedding the use of music, film and apps in the writing curriculum – Cross curricular opportunities for writing.

The National Curriculum Programmes of Study for English requires pupils to have a much wider understanding of knowledge and skills in their writing than ever before. The challenge for teachers now is how to teach to the raised standards whilst instilling a love of writing into children.

This course also looks at progression of the SPaG curriculum from Y1 to Y6 and offers many creative ways to teach SPaG in context, along with suggestions for discrete sessions.
The course will offer practical ideas that can be implemented easily within the classroom and participants will leave knowing how to implement writing in a clear and concise way across the whole school.
