‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ (2015) states that Governing bodies and proprietors must ensure that they comply with their duties under legislation, having regard to this guidance to ensure that the policies, procedures & training in their schools and colleges are effective and comply with the law at all times.
Safeguarding procedures should take into account local authority practice as part of the inter-agency procedures as set up by the LSCB.
This training will ensure that Governors are clear on what constitutes Safeguarding; what the role of their Designated Safeguarding Lead should be; what issues their school may be dealing with; and what their role is in terms of holding the school to account.
