This Advanced Training for Designated Safeguarding Leads gives an opportunity to look deeper in to the role and requirements of the Designated Safeguarding Lead whilst meeting the two-yearly statutory training needs for DSLs as stated in Keeping Children Safe in Education.
The session is aimed at those who are more experienced in the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead for their setting and offers an opportunity to share a greater depth of knowledge and experience with colleagues who have a similar level of expertise.
The delivery of the training will be more interactive and aims to offer more opportunity for sharing good practice through looking at serious case reviews and responding to scenarios rather than the information being delivered through a power-point presentation.
On completing this training, delegates should have been provided with practical guidance which suits the needs of their setting. They should feel further inspired to enhance the safeguarding culture within their environment through sharing information and resources with parents, pupils and staff.
The content of this training is updated to ensure that the latest legislation and guidance is addressed using the latest tools which are encouraged by local authorities across the UK so that these can be replicated within the school environment to meet the needs of staff.
As well as covering an extensive range of complex safeguarding topics, delegates will also receive a toolkit which will be used throughout the training and will act as a point of reference on returning to your setting.
We hope that the Advanced Safeguarding Training will ensure that experienced DSLs feel that their knowledge is extended and, as well as meeting the statutory training requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education, provides opportunities to reflect on good practice and make long term plans for improved safeguarding within their setting.
We understand the importance of safeguarding training for schools and how crucial it is that staff are able to feel comfortable to questions and have discussions. This is why, at One Education, we are determined to continue to deliver face to face safeguarding training, in a safe way, as much as possible. Over the last 3 months we have worked closely with school leaders to tailor our usual training delivery to cater for Covid-19 guidelines and to ensure the safety and comfort of our delegates. We can deliver small group DSL training or deliver safeguarding foundation training to larger groups with social distancing in place.
Whatever your school or trust's requirements, we can make arrangements to ensure your training is delivered safely whilst ensuring a high standard of training. Our staff ensure that all delegate packs are incubated for a period of 72hours before delivery and Covid-19 guidelines are adhered to at all times. As well as delivering face to face training with Covid-19 guidelines in place, we are now able to offer CPD Certified Designated Safeguarding Lead Training online.
Similar to our face to face training, and ensuring with the same consistency in content, we can offer delegates an interactive session with lots of opportunity for discussion as well as sharing best practice. We understand that this option to access training may be preferable in the current climate and we want to ensure that all school staff can meet their statutory training requirements, whilst ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
