The arts therapists in our Emotional and Trauma Support team (ETS) offer highly effective therapy in education-based settings, transforming lives. Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council we use evidence-based creative methods, consistently yielding positive results across schools and other settings, mainly in the North West.
Our innovative work with young people in the Youth Justice Service led to an invitation to contribute a chapter on our practice, in an interdisciplinary book on education, health and youth justice.
Our chapter, written collaboratively, is entitled ‘Aligning with the Chaos and Navigating Through the Trauma’. It shares the process and findings of two dramatherapists, James Stephens and Kate Brown when integrating a psychotherapeutic service into a youth justice system and it includes anonymised case studies. One of the questions addressed is: When looking at the whole child, how can a trauma informed approach support desistance and build new possibilities for the future? We are delighted to announce that the book, ‘Children and Their Education in Secure Accommodation’ has just been published and is available through Amazon or your local bookshop. There will be a book launch on November 7th at Liverpool John Moore’s University.
