92% of Teachers Vote Strike

Nearly 92% of the teachers who voted in the recent NUT ballot voted for strike action.

The union canvassed its members over concerns about pay and conditions and for their views on whether the Education for All Bill will have an adverse impact on teachers and pupils as more schools become academies.

The union's rallying cry was ‘enough is enough’ and it is calling for a day of strike action on 5 July.

The government will point out that those members who voted amounted to under a quarter of the NUT membership.
