If you haven’t already, take some time to review the National College for Teaching and Leadership’s latest research report ‘What makes great pedagogy and great professional development’ which evidences that systematic, rigorous, collaborative enquiry can make a real difference to pupils and professionals.

The report details how ‘great pedagogy’ is achieved by: consulting with pupils about their experiences as learners and understanding what they already know; teacher self-belief in their capacity to challenge and improve; flexible use of teaching approaches and interventions to meet a range of needs; and building quality time for AfL methodology to activate pupils as mentors for their peers.

The report’s key messages on professional development are worth reading.
