Unions welcome back Nicky Morgan

It’s been ‘open letter season’ for the teaching unions this week with many publishing their visions and views for Nicky Morgan to consider.

ATL’s Mary Bousted writes about the recruitment crisis and workload with the solution lying in a peer-led, supportive and rigorous inspection system and an autonomous profession determining its own work.

ASCL’s Blueprint for a self-improving system describes unleashing greatness in schools and champions professional development.

NAHT’s manifesto for education, Owning what is ours, also addresses an alternative inspection regime as well as supporting an independent College of Teaching.

The NUT leads a joint union open letter to the new government focusing on funding cuts, which the Institute of Fiscal Studies reports in real terms could be as much as 12%.
