SEND in the census

Do you know the requirements for returns for SEND pupils?

Check out section 4.5 and 4.6 of the new guide. The amended code of practice means changes to ‘SEN provision’, including new codes regarding SEN categories in school. By now, schools are expected to have converted SA and SA+ to SEN support (code K).

There is an extension until autumn 2015 to allow collection of exclusions data, with code S (statements) and E (EHC plans) existing alongside each other until all transfers have been made.

There are also new codes for pupils awaiting completion of an EHC needs assessment (NSA) and to reflect the change in the behaviour category (SEMH).
