Dyslexia Support for Academies

With an estimated 10% of the population likely to be dyslexic, every school will recognise pupils who are experiencing severe and persistent literacy difficulties and who need specialist teaching and support.

Our dyslexia specialist teachers are dedicated professionals who have depth and range of experience and skills in identifying and teaching children with Specific Learning Difficulties, (SPLD) Dyslexia, and Dyscalculia. All our specialist teachers hold British Dyslexia Association Approved Teacher Status (ATS) as well as being qualified, ‘Associate members of the British Dyslexia Association,’ known as (AMBDA).

What we offer to Academies

Dyslexia teaching, support and capacity building

Our team have been specially trained and are qualified to deliver highly effective teaching programmes using a range of multi-sensory techniques to complement the specific strengths of each pupil. Schools we work with often wish to develop a dyslexia-friendly environment as well as specialist teaching for individual pupils.

Customer feedback and the pupil outcomes data we collect show that our provision is highly effective, delivering on measurable outcomes for children and young people. Using our targeted teaching programme, we can build capacity by training teaching assistants to deliver a multi-sensory programme to small groups and individual pupils.

By being on site each week, specialist teachers can ensure that TAs have access to ongoing coaching thereby ensuring that the teaching programmes can be updated and remain effective to maximise pupil outcomes. Should you require whole school training, the specialist teacher will work with you to identify and plan bespoke training and this can be delivered during INSET and/or twilight training sessions.

In addition, the team are qualified to complete a range of assessments, including assessments to inform teaching, diagnostic assessments, and exam access arrangements.

As an individual academy, teaching and support and capacity building can be accessed as a full day, morning or afternoon per week. A full day per week commissioned by your Multi-Academy Trust would offer the benefit of building an effective relationship the with specialist teacher who would support to develop policy and practice across all Academies in order to create a joint vision for Dyslexic learners.
