Acquired Brain Injury

Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)

We provide specialist work with children and young people with acquired brain injury (ABI).

Our educational psychologists collaborate as a core group of practitioners with specialist knowledge regarding meeting the needs of children and young people.

This includes working toward the following outcomes:

  • To develop and disseminate current knowledge and research of the impact of ABI on all areas of a child or young person’s life (and that of their family) but especially regarding issues related to educational provision.
  • To establish, enhance and maintain high quality relationships with other professionals involved in providing care and support for children with ABI.
  • To ensure members of the team (and other commissioning services should this be the case) are aware of relevant issues, approaches and knowledge as well as to provide support or advice as necessary through consultation, training and workshops.
  • To optimise the efficacy of educational psychology support when working with children, young people and their families in the promotion of resilience and positive change.
