Meet the Careers Team
One Future careers team are Matrix accredited, members of the Careers Development Institute (Professional body) and all fully qualified to Level 6. They are all highly experienced advice and guidance practitioners with a passion for ensuring that young people have access to up to date careers advice, guidance and education to enable them to make well informed, realistic decisions about their futures.
Careers Team Leader
Claire has over 22 years’ experience working with schools, colleges and the community, providing direct support to young people, via one to one interventions and group work in careers advice and guidance. Claire’s extensive experience of working in and around Manchester, means that she has a great depth of knowledge and awareness of the range of options and choices available from colleges, 6th Forms, apprenticeship providers and beyond that, into higher education opportunities.
Alongside her direct support to children and young people, Claire has significant experience of mentoring and supporting schools, colleges and training providers in achieving recognised quality kite marks in careers education, information, advice & guidance, such as the Matrix standard and the three levels of the Inspiring IAG Award.
Claire has over 7 years direct management experience in a careers and targeted youth support setting. Within her management and leadership duties, she has taken a key role in training and supporting front line staff, offering guidance and best practice relating to child protection protocols in collaboration with Manchester Safeguarding Childrens Board. During her time with Connexions, she worked specifically with vulnerable young people, deemed furthest away from learning, achievement and accessing the labour market. She continues to be passionate about this type of targeted, early intervention youth support and is currently a designated safeguarding lead within One Education Ltd.
Claire feels passionately about offering accurate and timely advice to young people, in order for them to make appropriate choices as part of their journey into adulthood. She is committed to encouraging and supporting lifelong learning, participation & attainment, and helping young people to fully realise and achieve their full potential.
She works closely in partnership with Manchester local authority in collating and recording of post 16 destination data and tracking, in line with the Raising of the Participation agenda.
Senior Careers Adviser
Leanne joined the One Future Careers Team in 2014. Since this time she has worked with several Manchester Schools, providing one to one careers guidance, supporting with organising and delivering a range of careers events and developing a work experience scheme that is going from strength to strength.
With over ten years' experience delivering information, advice and guidance in both education and community settings, Leanne has achieved a Level 6 Careers Advice and Guidance qualification and a Diploma in Careers Education at Level 7. She is also a registered member of the Career Development Institute (CDI).
Leanne feels passionately that high quality, aspirational work experience can help young people to develop the confidence and skills needed as they transition into adult life. She has put this passion into helping to develop a scheme that has now supported several schools in delivering work experience to their students.
Since joining the One Education Careers Team, Leanne has been working on some exciting new ideas and products that can be delivered to local schools to support young people to further aspire and achieve.
Vicky joined One Education in 2012 and works as a Careers Adviser for the One Future Careers Team. She delivers one to one careers guidance interviews and supports the delivery of careers events and the work experience scheme.
Vicky previously worked as a Careers Adviser for the Connexions Service in Manchester. She has a Qualification in Careers Guidance from the Manchester Metropolitan University and an NVQ level 4 in Guidance. She is a registered member of the Career Development Institute (CDI). Vicky also holds a Diploma in Social Work.
With over fifteen years’ experience of working with schools, Vicky has a robust knowledge of the range of options available to young people. She is committed to offering impartial careers advice and guidance so that young people are given the support they need to make their transition from school into adult life.
Andrew joined the One Future Careers team in Jan 2015. Since joining, Andrew has worked with a number of schools in providing specialist careers advice as well as supporting other areas of the team, in particular supporting and delivering talks at a number of careers events.
Previously Andrew worked at the Manchester College as a Site Lead Advisor for 7 years and in addition to his role at One Education he also presently works as a part time Team Leader within the Careers Department at Trafford College. This combination of roles allows Andrew to use his knowledge of the Further Education sector when working with Year 10 and 11 students in particular.
Andrew is passionate about the impact that good Careers Guidance can have on the planning and success of students' futures.
Lisa is a Careers Adviser and trained Psychotherapist with a passion for working with young people, assisting them to make choices and changes that will enable them to become the best that they can be. She has worked as a careers adviser and intensive support young person’s adviser for over 22 years. Lisa has worked with young people in schools, colleges and careers centres over the Manchester and Rochdale area for 23 years, delivering careers guidance and therapeutic support. She has also worked intensively with young people who have a history of non-engagement, as well as having experience as a college counselor and has her own psychotherapy practice.
Grainne has been working as a Careers Adviser for over 19 years. She started out in Wythenshawe, supporting young people in schools and in the community post 16. She has worked all over Manchester and Salford in a variety of settings from schools and colleges to supporting young people in Children’s Homes and Youth Offending Services. She has worked intensively with young people with significant barriers to work and training, and worked closely with other agencies to support those young people in making positive transitions into education or training. She trained as an assessor to support colleagues through work related qualifications and mentored many staff through training.
