Ensuring children develop the lifelong skills and knowledge needed to become confident readers and writers is the passion that drives our literacy specialists in all aspects of our work. At the heart of all we do is the children; ensuring we support their progression and develop their love for learning.
Using their range of experience, knowledge and skills, One Education's Primary Literacy specialists will support you and your school to develop best practice, based on your school’s needs.
Our support is bespoke to you, offering a wide range of different services.
One Education are offering a Reading Award which is designed to show the skills and commitment by schools who build a successful reading curriculum and inspire children to read.
The One Education Reading Award provides resources for the classroom, CPD materials and leadership support. The award can be purchased and completed online, with the option of purchasing school support to complement this. The support that runs alongside the Reading Award will be specific to you and your school. This might be support with teaching guided reading, assistance in developing the assessment and tracking of reading or it may be working with children to ignite a passion for reading.
One Education’s literacy specialists can help to support your Literacy or English Lead in developing their skills and knowledge in leading Literacy across the school. This support will help Literacy Leaders to feel confident in making and leading changes in reading, writing, phonics and SPaG. Along with the Literacy or English lead, we will audit current Literacy provision, develop an action plan and look at ways forward to implement the plan.
One Education’s Literacy team can also help develop a clear and concise English curriculum that meets your needs, checking National Curriculum coverage and developing a consistent assessment system. Our Literacy specialists also hold Literacy Leader Network Meetings every term – focusing on developing skills as leaders and building further knowledge of literacy.
Literacy specialists can work with teachers to improve teaching and learning throughout the school. By modelling inspirational lessons for teachers, class teachers are then supported with planning and delivering a follow up lesson with support and feedback from a Literacy Specialist. Teachers will develop their confidence whilst also developing ideas to engage children with the English curriculum.
As part of the support there is also the opportunity to include staff meetings, training, leadership support and literacy audits for the whole school. Based on the cost of a basic daily rate, we can design a bespoke support package specifically to meet the needs of your school and can cover all aspects of the English Curriculum or concentrate on developing a priority area.
