Musician In Residence

Music Curriculum Support

Delivering a creative music curriculum and raising the profile of music in your school. Enjoy a music specialist in your school from half a day to two full days.

Why have a Musician In Residence?

Music can say a lot about a school and even transform it. It is an entitlement for every child and may be the start of a life-long journey.

Is Music an integral part of your school?

Do you want someone to plan and deliver high quality music lessons in school which enhance and support the new curriculum?

Music improves:

  • Attainment and learning skills
  • Behaviour, self esteem and social skills
  • Creativity and thinking skills

A one day musician in residence programme can deliver any combination of the following:

  • Music curriculum lessons (including PPA)
  • Key stage singing assemblies
  • Extra curricular music clubs or choirs
  • School musical performance support
  • Whole class / large group instrumental tuition

Class Benefits

How many classes benefit from the programme each week?

In a typical day in a one-form entry school, the Musician in Residence will work with classes, offering 30 minute lessons to EYFS and KS1, and 40 minute lessons to KS2.

In larger schools the delivery of the teaching can be more flexible e.g alternate weeks, alternate terms, or additional days. There will be opportunities for flexibility including super learning events, creative weeks, performances and sharing assemblies.
