The Reading Award has really tightened our focus at school with the audit materials providing a clear route of progression. The in school support we have received has been invaluable as it has been bespoke and tailored to our needs. The online resources have completed the package by offering time-saving solutions to our next steps. We have been working on the award for two years and are looking forward to seeing where it takes us next.
Debbie Fitzpatrick, Deputy Headteacher
St Aidan's Catholic Primary School
We are so glad we have taken part in the One Education Reading Award scheme. It has helped all our staff to take a critical look at the way we teach reading and it has given us the confidence and determination to raise our standards in school and give our children a true love of reading for pleasure. Laura Lodge is an inspirational literacy consultant who could not have done enough to assist and support us on our journey. Her excellent training sessions and support and guidance for teachers and middle leaders have been highly rated and appreciated by all.
Malc Hallam, Headteacher
Peel Hall Primary School
Thanks for all your support throughout the process. It is great and will be really motivating for the children and staff when I share the good news with them about what they have achieved.
Jennifer Roche-Newton, Reading Lead
Barlow Hall Primary
We have found the resources available at One Education very useful. For example, our Young Leaders for Libraries have used the Reading Area Audit to inform next steps for our reading areas both in class and in additional reading areas in school. Working alongside colleagues at One Education has further developed our approach to professional development. We find access to Literacy specialists highly useful and use the online resources to support our schools’ strategic development.
Heather Wright, English Lead and founder of #readingrocks

We’re really excited to use the Reading Award to help us reflect and evaluate our practice in teaching reading across the whole school. The Reading Award will give us a chance to celebrate what we do well and to prioritise areas to improve.
KATE PUTT, ASSISTANT HEADTEACHER
Brooklands Primary School
The support that we received from Jo was invaluable. She provided fantastic demonstration lessons, practical resources and excellent ideas and advice about how to take guided reading forward in our school. All the staff from Reception to Year 6 now feel confident in delivering high-quality guided reading with the children, and are enthusiastic about planning sessions for the new year.
