Content

Manchester City Council has asked One Education’s Key Stage 2 Moderation Team to provide support to schools with the assessment of writing in the summer term. This is to replace the many moderation visits which would normally take place.

This support is free of charge to Manchester LA schools only.

This virtual training will focus on:

  • Supporting Year 5 and 6 teachers in making accurate judgements about children’s writing, in order to ensure consistency and validate judgements.

  • Reviewing of some of STA’s training materials, and examples of pupils’ writing will also be used to provide help with identifying and responding to children who have gaps in their learning.

  • Teachers will have the opportunity to share and seek advice regarding their own challenges, experiences of assessing their pupils’ writing.

  • We encourage schools to release both Year 5 and 6 teachers to attend the training together in order to provide the opportunity to explore recent research into teaching, learning, marking and assessment of pupils’ writing.

Who is it for?

Year 5 and 6 teachers in Manchester schools. Please book one place per delegate.

You only need to attend one session but please ensure that, where possible, Y5 and Y6 staff from each school attend on the same day to get the maximum benefit from the course.
