Exploring the Writing Curriculum (All 3 Virtual Sessions)

The effective teaching and learning of writing is a complex process that requires careful thought. These online courses will support staff to improve their subject knowledge; develop their approaches to teaching writing and encourage reflection. Using engaging high-quality texts, the sessions will delve deeply into best practice. Delegates are welcome to book on to the full three day programme, or choose to attend the sessions individually according to need.
Session One: 10 March 2021
Session Two: 21 April 2021
Session Three: 30 June 2021
Session One will focus on planning writing unit using the One Education P.I.C.C. a Text approach and looking at embedding writing opportunities across the curriculum.
Session Two will focus on the teaching of grammar and spelling in context using high quality texts, including how to encourage children to use appropriate grammatical features for the audience and purpose of their writing.
Session Three will focus on how to support children to write effectively, making choices as a writer, as well as how to instil a writing for pleasure culture across school.
Each session will be delivered virtually, and will provide a wealth of activities and ideas which can be used in the classroom. Delegates will receive a resource pack and be encouraged to complete a follow up task between sessions to embed new ideas into their practice.
These virtual sessions will be recorded so you can access the training at a later date, if you are unable to attend live.
