This five-day course is classroom-based and will give you a thorough understanding of the management of risk; theory and practice. The course includes the foundation examination on day three and concludes with the practitioner examinations on day five. This qualification is aimed at anyone working within a corporate governance environment that has responsibilities for identifying, assessing, planning, or managing risks, or reporting on risk management activities across the organisation.

Course Objectives for the Foundation Qualification:
• Know the facts, terms, concepts and relationships between the four elements of the M o R framework (principles, approach, processes and embedding and reviewing);
• Understand how the M o R principles, approach, and processes are used;
• Be able to identify the M o_R framework documents and understand their uses and differences.

Course Objectives for the Practitioner Qualification:
• Understand the relationships between the four elements of the M_o_R framework;
• Be able to apply the principles, approach, processes and techniques;
• Be able to review and make recommendations to embed the M_o_R framework;
• Be able to create and assess any of the M_o_R framework documents.

Exam information:

There are two exams included within the five-day M_o_R course:

  1. The foundation exam takes place on the Wednesday usually at 3pm. It is an hour-long multiple choice, closed book exam that consists of 75 questions. Five of these questions are ‘trial questions’ that will not contribute to your overall score, so the exam is marked out of 70. In order to pass, a score of 35 or more must be achieved.
  2. The practitioner exam takes place on the Friday and is an open-book exam. Only the M_o_R guidance book and part A of the ABC guidance is allowed. Annotations and page markers to find useful pages quickly are allowed but students are not to attach any other material into the book. The exam is three hours with a 50% pass mark.
