As financial worries continue to increase for Headteachers, streamlining and reducing staffing structures is becoming a regular activity in schools. Leaders should review their staffing structures each year to ensure they remain relevant to the school’s current needs and priorities, and its future vision, strategy and direction.

Changes to the funding formula and increased employment costs mean Headteachers and Governors are having to make difficult decisions in relation to staffing than ever before.

Join us at our informative and unique workshop based session designed for those involved (or trying to avoid) school redundancy and restructuring processes. Delegates will explore legal constraints alongside a combination of practical techniques and good practice to support the avoidance and management of a smooth restructuring activity avoiding expensive tribunal claims.

Workshop tables:

Streamlining Structures and preventive processes; how can we structure our staff in the most cost effective way and what we can do practically in relation to senior leadership structures, TLR posts and Teacher and support staff deployment to reduce costs. Reviewing other preventative measures and discussion on best practice.

Business Case & Consultation; exploration of effective business plans how to communicate the scope and extent of proposals; statutory and realistic timelines and how to assess potential costs associated to pension and redundancy. How consultation should be managed and delivered; reviewing best practice samples and how to engage with Trade Unions.

Redundancy and Equality issues; how to carry out redundancies as fairly and efficiently as possible; exploration of fixed term contracts; discussion time on potential equality concerns and how to manage challenge.

Resilience and response to change; exploring our psychological response to change and things we can practically do to support staff through restructures to aid their well-being and mental health.
