SCR Management and Myth Busting
Schools must ensure that they properly carry out, record and evidence a raft of pre-appointment checks as part of the recruitment process which is at the heart of safeguarding and promoting child welfare. A key part of this is maintaining the Single Central Record (SCR) and ensuring that it meets regulatory requirements. The SCR is the most common source of inspection failure but misinterpretation and misconception about what is required is just as common. The SCR briefing will provide advice and recommendations for recording the Safer Recruitment checks you have undertaken and the retention and recording of evidence on the SCR in accordance with GDPR requirements. Our templates and guidance have been developed from years of experience supporting schools with their record keeping and Ofsted visits. We have had positive feedback from the support we have provided to schools often at short notice, however, we want you to be prepared for those Ofsted visits and feel confident in your processes. Our SCR has been developed to ensure schools carry out best practice and to evidence diligent record keeping and ongoing checks. We provide clarity regarding the statutory requirements and Ofsted expectations.
