As the end of the term draws in and most are getting ready for the festivities ahead we wanted to acknowledge recent events that have no doubt had an impact on us all.

The death of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes has been across media outlets over the last few weeks, a stark reminder of the harsh reality of what some children and young people are facing and continue to face despite professionals’ best efforts to protect and safeguard children.

Reports of Arthur’s tragic passing has no doubt evoked discussions and criticism, and reminds us of cases we have seen and heard all too many times before. For those of us who work in safeguarding in particular it can mean a time of contemplation, reflection and having some difficult conversations.

At One Education we see daily the incredible work schools are delivering to not only educate children but protect, safeguard, and nurture in a time that has been unprecedented. There have been staff who have not seen their own families in order to remain safe and well enough to teach others children, schools have opened in half terms and summer holidays and those who have gone above and beyond in ways before COVID we would never have imagined. Schools have been asked to step into a role they have never had to fulfil before and we have helped to guide and support them with this task along the way.

For us at One Education the child has always and will always come first and we know that this is the same for all of you out there working in education, safeguarding and any other role that is focused on enhancing a child’s life in whatever way we can.

If you have been affected by this tragedy please reach out to someone and above all else remind yourself that you are doing an incredible job.

One Education thanks you for all of the commitment and dedication and we hope to continue to support you in any way we can.
