Simone Louise Nixon

LEAD PRACTITIONER - LITERACY

About Simone

Simone Nixon is a Literacy Lead Practitioner working within the One Education Educational Development team. After completing her degree in teaching, Simone started her career in education as a Curriculum Buying Manager, developing bespoke curriculum and school resources to support teaching practitioners. For a time, Simone ran her own e-commerce business while her children were still young. However, she eventually returned to the classroom as both a teacher and a member of the senior leadership team. In this role, she successfully developed the Literacy offering, coached staff and supported professional development, and played a key role in driving transformational change across the school.

In addition to her classroom teacher and SLT member duties, Simone worked with external organisations with the same desire to improve educational outcomes for children. As a result, Simone voluntarily runs the annual Spelling Bee competition in Oldham. The Bee is designed to raise the status of spelling in primary schools and has over 2,000 children competing for the Spelling Award.

Simone joined One Education in 2022. During this time, she has supported countless schools and children on their educational journey. Many of our partners will recognise her from our termly Year 6 Networks, or as the main point of contact for the One Education Secondary Reading Award. Beyond that, Simone has also supported the design and delivery of our Reading Gems, PICC a Text, and Greater Depth Writing approaches. In addition to staff training, curriculum and educational support, Simone is a qualified moderator and is a Lead Moderator for Writing. Drawing on her expertise, she has supported teachers across all year groups with internal moderation.

Truly passionate about all aspects of education, Simone believes that no matter their starting point, all children deserve an equal opportunity to succeed. At One Education, she enjoys the opportunity to work alongside like-minded professionals who share her commitment to educational improvement, high aspirations for all children, and a passion for all that is Literacy.
