World Book Day 2024 

On Thursday 7^th March, it’s World Book Day once more, with this year’s theme being ‘Read Your Way’.  

We know schools will be planning a great day celebrating reading in all its forms, but have you managed to set up an author visit? Having an author visit can be such a powerful way to engage children with reading, as well as with writing and illustration. This World Book Day, so many authors have given their time to put on free virtual events for schools, so we thought we’d put together a helpful list of just some of these fantastic events taking place. Make sure to look out for: 

• Puffin Schools Story Makers Show with Robin Stevens, Ed Vere and Dr Sheila Kanani – Year 2-6. 4^th March 2024 – 10 am.

• Scholastic Secondary Schools Live: Thinking in Kishotenketsu with Mina Ikemoto Ghosh – 13+. 4^th March 2024 – 10 am.

• British Library and Seven Stories – Fairy stories with Michael Rosen, Jasbinder Bilan and Allen Fatimaharan. 4^th March 2024 – 11 am.

• Scholastic Schools Live – Kwame’s Magic Quest with Bernard Mensah – 5+. 4^th March 2024 – 2 pm.

• Scholastic Schools Live – Discover Your Power with Helen Rutter, author of ‘Reggie Houser Has the Power’ – 7+. 5^th March 2024 – 11 am.

• Scholastic Schools Live – Doodling Fun with Liz Pichon – 7+. 5^th March 2024 – 2 pm.

• World Book Day Footy and Booky Quiz. 7^th March 2024 – 9.30 am.

• Born Free Foundation World Book Day Webinar with Michael Morpurgo – KS2. 7^th March 2024 – 10 am.

• Scholastic Schools Live – Horrible Histories: The Big Rotten Roman Quiz with Terry Deary – 7+. 7^th March 2024 – 10 am.

• BBC Teach Live Lesson focused on Reading for Pleasure – KS2. 7^th March 2024 – 11 am.

• Scholastic Schools Live – Meet Nina Peanut and Draw Along with Sarah Bowie – 7+. 7^th March 2024 – 11 am.

• Waterstones World Book Day Virtual Visit with John Patrick Green, author of ‘InvestiGATORS: All Tied Up’ – KS1-LKS2. 7^th March 2024 – 11 am.

• Reading Zone World Book Day Event – Creative Writing with Liz Flanagan, author of ‘Wildsmith’ – KS2. 7th March – 2 pm.

• Scholastic Schools Live – I’m Not Sleepy Storytime and Draw Along with Raahat Kaduji – 3+. 7^th March 2024 – 2 pm.

• Waterstones World Book Day Virtual Visit with Louie Stowell, author of ‘Loki: A Bad God’s Guide to being Good’ – KS2. 7^th March 2024 – 2.30 pm.

• Scholastic Secondary Schools Live – International Women’s Day: Feminist YA with Laura Wood and Polly Crosby – 12+. 8^th March 2024 – 11 am.

• Reading Zone World Book Day Event – Writing Thrillers & Horror with SJ Wills, author of ‘Bite Risk’ – Year 7 & 8. 8^th March 2024 – 1.30 pm.

• Scholastic Schools Live – Magical Tales and Drawing with Axel Scheffler – 3+. 8^th March 2024 – 2 pm.
