On Thursday 7th March, it’s World Book Day once more, with this year’s theme being ‘Read Your Way’.
We know schools will be planning a great day celebrating reading in all its forms, but have you managed to set up an author visit? Having an author visit can be such a powerful way to engage children with reading, as well as with writing and illustration. This World Book Day, so many authors have given their time to put on free virtual events for schools, so we thought we’d put together a helpful list of just some of these fantastic events taking place. Make sure to look out for:

- Waterstones World Book Day Virtual Visit with John Patrick Green, author of ‘InvestiGATORS: All Tied Up’ – KS1-LKS2. 7th March 2024 – 11 am.
- Reading Zone World Book Day Event – Creative Writing with Liz Flanagan, author of ‘Wildsmith’ – KS2. 7th March – 2 pm.
- Scholastic Schools Live – I’m Not Sleepy Storytime and Draw Along with Raahat Kaduji – 3+. 7th March 2024 – 2 pm.
- Waterstones World Book Day Virtual Visit with Louie Stowell, author of ‘Loki: A Bad God’s Guide to being Good’ – KS2. 7th March 2024 – 2.30 pm.
- Scholastic Secondary Schools Live – International Women’s Day: Feminist YA with Laura Wood and Polly Crosby – 12+. 8th March 2024 – 11 am.
