These sessions provide you with the opportunity to discuss pupils’ writing, reading, and maths assessments in line with the National Curriculum and end of Key Stage 1 expectations. Experienced moderators will facilitate the discussion, ensuring that the course provides delegates with up to date Key Stage 1 statutory assessment arrangements for Reading, Writing and Maths as well as practical advice for pupils’ next steps.
Despite KS1 moderation no longer being statutory, it is important to engage in professional conversations with colleagues, local schools, and with an experienced moderator to aid in developing consistency within assessment for Reading, Writing and Maths. The session will explore ideas and a range of strategies that can be used within the classroom; developing teacher’s confidence, knowledge and skills whilst improving outcomes for children and raising standards in the curriculum.
All Year 2 delegates should bring with them evidence from across the curriculum for at least three children as the majority of the course will be spent assessing and discussing work with colleagues.
You may want to bring a mixture of children’s day to day work in the form of:
- Children’s workbooks
- Photographs
- Assessment or planning notes
- Tests and assessments
- Recordings (especially for reading)
NB: Discrete test questions will only supplement further evidence gathered and should not be used as evidence alone.
Sessions are taking place on:
18th June – am Writing Focus
18th June – pm Reading and Maths focus
If you attend a morning and afternoon session you will need to bring your own lunch as it is classed as 2 half days.
