This half-day in-person training introduces a framework of the core approaches that together cover the knowledge and skills needed to support early years children with significant communication and interaction needs. These are children who may not yet be using speech, and do not interact with adults or other children in a typical way.
The training is aimed at early years practitioners whose level of experience and position within a setting would enable them to become the setting’s Practice Lead for Communication and Interaction. Practice Leads help to develop policy and influence practice across the setting, supporting the development of other staff members’ skills through modelling and positive coaching.
Included in this training offer is a 90-minute virtual group-consultation to support and problem-solve the participants’ introduction of the framework to their settings. This will be held some weeks following the in-person session.
